Day I Service

The first day of my senior service project was very exciting. I served at the Martha Jones School in Westwood. Throughout the day I helped the children do skills from reading to a few math equations. During snack time, I read the 3rd graders a short story. When I first arrived in the morning I had no idea what to expect. I thought I was going to be overwhelmed, but after the first day I really enjoyed the experience and I can not wait to return to the school and to return to the kids. I hope I can make a positive significance one these young lives. Day I is over and I am excited to go back.

Chicago vs Miami

On the Sunday rivals Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat went toe to toe in possible preview of the Eastern Conference Final showdown. The heat dominated the game up until the forth quarter allowing 27 points to Miami's 19. The Bulls had great leadership from Center Joakim Noah leading the charge with having 5 less blocks and 3 less assists from a quadruple double. Tight defense from Chicago's Jimmy Butler held "MVP" LeBron James to only 17 points. One of his lowest points this year. The Bulls triumphed in OT with a 95-88 score.

Senior Service

Senior service is an important time for every senior. If you don't achieve your required hours then the penalties for not completing the task is you will not graduate. These are some hefty fines. but the service program is for a good cause. WE AS STUDENTS GET THE CHANCE TO HELP OTHERS WHO AER LESS FORTUNATE THEN WE ARE. Helping the elderly may seem tiring and boring but when you are with the folks you learn a lot about them; you learn their stories and learn who they are and how they lived their life. It is a different experience when you are volunteering with children. The children learn from you and you tell your stories. Children are our future and schools are a good place to do senior service hours.

For my senior service project I will be doing my hours at the Martha Jones Elementary school in Westwood. I chose this site because I know a few of the teachers who already work at this school. I hope I can make a difference in these young students lives.

The Olympics are over

This past weekend marked the end of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Many people have mixed feelings about how the Olympics played out. Some enjoyed the games, but others felt that home field advantage helped in many ways. Controversies were a problem from beginning to the end of the games. We have all seen the pictures of the rooms the worlds best athletes were placed in. The living conditions were horrible in some areas, started from no power at times to no running water. Those were only some of the problems Sochi experienced. On the athletic level, the games were exciting throughout. With the host country leading the medal count with 33 and the US coming in second with 28. This marked the first time since the 1952 games where the host country won both medal and gold count. But with triumph there will always be controversy. This showed especially in the figure skating portion of the games. Many athletes claimed the judges ruled unfairly and they favored the Russian skaters. These theories became transparent when Russian skater Adelina Sotnikova was scene moments after winning gold, hugging the judge who judged her. http://nesn.com/2014/02/russian-figure-skater-hugs-russian-judge-minutes-after-winning-gold-medal-photo/
The Sochi Olympics were a very good Olympic and will be remembered for years to come.

R.I.P Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird, the game so easy but challenging that everyone is addicted to. If you're a victim of the flappy bird virus then you know how aggravating this game could make you. Apparently the owner Dong Nguyen, feels the same way. Mr. Nguyen said through a tweet that as of Sunday February 9 that Flappy Bird will ben taken off the app store. Flappy Bird has taken the world by storm taking over the charts for top app for both iPhone and android platforms. Although he said that he will not sell the game, many other sources say otherwise. Regardless of what happens you smiled when you beat your high score and your blood boiled when you lost. Flappy Birds will be missed....(maybe)

items. Google sketch at first glance can be very intimidated and complicated but when you get the hang of it can be very fun and entertaining. Sketch up is a fun program top use. I am hoping to continue and go more in depth with the program.
